Given the naturally damp environment of a basement, installing a vapor barrier is essential for preventing mold growth and water damage. The CleanSpace® Wall System will provide protection from water seepage while giving your basement a clean appearance.
This basement is dry and protected with the CleanSpace® vapor barrier system, which blocks moisture while brightening the space!
Vapor barriers block water from seeping into your basement, reducing humidity, mold, and other moisture-related issues.
Mold and mildew thrive in damp environments — by limiting moisture intrusion, vapor barriers help prevent mold growth that can affect your home's health and your family's well-being.
Damp basements encourage mold growth, which can lower indoor air quality — especially if your HVAC system pulls air from the basement. Vapor barriers help keep your basement dry and your home's air healthy.
If you have a damp basement, it can make your home feel colder and force your heating system to work harder. Installing a vapor barrier helps to regulate the temperature in your basement — and the rest of your home — to make sure you're not wasting energy.
If you have a finished basement, a vapor barrier will keep your furniture, flooring, electronics and other items protected from water damage.
Vapor barriers act as a shield against moisture from passing through the porous concrete walls and floors of your basement. Instead of passing through your concrete, the moisture gets redirected to your sump pump.
A vapor barrier will control basement moisture and humidity, but it won't fix an active water leak. Active water leaks and flooding should be addressed with other basement waterproofing methods, such as a sump pump or French drain system. That said, it may be a smart investment to have a vapor barrier installed along with these other basement waterproofing solutions for an extra seal of protection.
Basement window leaks are from inadequate drainage, old seals, or poor soil grading that directs water to the house. A NO Dealers addresses this by installing a drainage system that channels water to the sump pump. We drill a small hole beneath the window and fit a special insert that directs water into the system. The area is sealed with a durable polymer injection for a clean, watertight finish that prevents future leaks.
When installed professionally, a vapor barrier can last for decades - especially if paired with other basement waterproofing solutions. Our CleanSpace® Wall System comes with a 25-year warranty from rips or tears.
The CleanSpace® Wall System is installed by fastening the material to the rim joist atop the foundation wall, and by installing press-fit plastic fasteners into the masonry.
DIY installation is possible, but if the vapor barrier isn't properly sealed or doesn't fully cover your basement walls and/or floors, moisture can still seep through. For the best results, professional installation is recommended.
